The course outcome attainment is based on the internal and external assessment as per GTU scheme of examination. Total marks for various courses may be100,150or200 Different assessment components and its maximum marks are as shown in figure3.2.1 and3.2.2.The assessment and evaluation process for different components is described as under:
|
1.MID
SEM EXAMINATION |
ØHOD set the paper setting order for
particular subject to Faculties who taken particular subject during semester
before 1 week. Ø Subject faculty draws the paper and give to
HOD. Ø It has been taken according to central
level Time Table. Ø Question paper has 30 Marks. Ø In Mid semester Exam all COs not covered. Ø Question Paper has been set according to
COs with options. Ø According to new curriculum COGC-21 There
are 2 midSEM Exam and 1 micro project. Ø Each mid semester exam with 20 marks and
average of MID1 and MID2 is from 20 marks and Micro project with 10 marks. So
total 30 marks.
|
|
2.Class test |
Ø The subject faculty conducts class test of different contents of the course as to prepare students for end semester examination |
|
3.Assignment |
Ø To improve and enhance the knowledge for
particular course subject, faculty gives assignment during semester. Ø Questions are mapped with course outcomes. Ø It has been evaluated according to student
performance
|
|
4.Tutorial |
Ø Some courses have tutorials in teaching
scheme Ø Sessions are conducted in 30 students in
group. Ø It is designed by faculties to cover the CO
of syllabus.
|
(B) Attainment of CO through Progressive Assessment of Practical:
Ø Thiscomponenthastheweightageof30marksor60marksindifferentcourses.
Ø Forprogressive
assessment of practical work, an analytical rubric is designed. Students are
assessed
onthe basis of various criteria like understanding of concept, skill for practical performance,
Interpretation of result, timely completion& quality of
term work and ethical conduct and teamwork(rubrics).
Ø The sum of marks scored in all the practical are converted to 30 or 60 marks at the end of semester as per GTU syllabus.
Ø One seminar presentation per group of students in the semester related to course would be conducted as it is suggested activity in syllabus.
Ø Seminar coordinators follow rubrics, which is set by the department for evaluation of seminar.
Ø Project batches are formed as per the instruction given by project coordinators.
Ø Project Batches are allotted to the internal guides based on the specialization and competency skills of the faculties
Ø The project guide along with project coordinator conduct
2 project reviews as per the rubrics, which is set by the Department and the
submit the Internal Assessment marks to the Head Of Department
(A) Attainment of CO through End Semester Practical Examination:
Ø This component has the weightage of 20 marks or 40 marks as per GTU syllabus.
Ø Practical examination is conducted in the last week of academic term.
Ø Student is randomly given a practical, for which he has to perform the experiment, note down readings in observation table, complete the calculation table and derive the conclusion for the experiment.
Ø Marks are awarded to students as per performance and viva conducted by faculty.
Ø In final year (i.e. in 5th and 6th semester) this component is assessed by external faculty. The practical (viva) exam is conducted by external faculty according to GTU order.
Ø GTU provides the result in the form of grades. The absolute grading system is adopted by the university and hence for the purpose of attainment, these grades are converted into marks as per the below-given table.
Ø In tier 2 institute university grades are not obtained CO -wise, thus the marks obtained by the student is equally divided in all CO.

(A)AttainmentofCOthroughEndSemesterTheoryExamination:
Ø This
component has the weightage of 70 marks.
Ø GTU
assigned the paper setting orders to subject faculties
ØQuestion
paper of each course is normally drawn as per GTU guidelines conforming to the
level of learning and curriculum weights.
Ø Question paper is of 70 marks and covering entire syllabus. Assessment is done by a faculty of affiliated colleges of the university and identity of the student is kept confidential. GTU provides the result in the form of grades. The absolute grading system is adopted by the university and hence for the purpose of attainment, these grades are converted into marks as per the below-given table.
Ø Being tier2 Institute University grades are not obtained CO-wise, thus the marks obtained by the student is equally divided in all CO.

Target Marks:
Ø In
assessment process, the target marks for attainment of CO’s for each component
is set. Target marks for end semester theory examination as well
as for progressive assessment of theory is set based on average of end semester theory
examination marks of previous three years of the course.
ØTarget marks for progressive
assessment of practical as well as for end semester practical examination is set as 50%
marks of that component.
Procedure for CO-Attainment:
Ø T The procedure for attainment of CO is described with an example as under
o
The attainment of each CO for internal
assessment is considered to be average of attainment of that CO of all
the components of internal assessment as per their weightage.
o
Similarly the attainment of each CO for
external examination is considered to be average of attainment of that CO of all the
components of external examination as per weightage.
